John Gibson

As Executive Vice President of Special Projects at Vicinity Energy, John is leading a portfolio of enterprise-critical initiatives that require dedicated executive leadership and cross-functional coordination.

With over 25 years of experience in utility management and operations, John most recently worked to transform our business and deploy new electrification technologies as chief technology officer (CTO). Prior to his role as CTO, John managed all operations in Vicinity Energy’s portfolio across the United States as chief operations officer (COO). John has also served in various leadership roles for Veolia, including executive vice president (EVP) and COO of Veolia North America’s (VNA) Municipal and Commercial (M&C) business and vice president of Veolia Energy’s South Region operations, where he oversaw, managed, and supported large-scale energy projects in the region.

John joined Veolia’s energy business as a Marketing Engineer in 1994 and went on to serve in a variety of roles including manager of business development, director of sales and marketing and vice president and manager (in Baltimore and Atlanta).

Prior to this, John worked at Aspen Systems Corporation, Air Products and Chemicals, and the U.S. Navy. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in General Administration from the University of Maryland.
