Safety is our first priority

Vicinity Energy is committed to conducting our business operations safely 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Every employee is empowered, responsible, and accountable for preserving health and safety for themselves and others.

Eliminate safety risks

District energy is a safer alternative to conventional boiler or chiller plants, eliminating onsite equipment that could pose safety risks. Our team’s relentless focus on safety allows our customers to gain peace of mind.

How we maintain a culture of safety

We invest heavily in safety training and ensure that safety is a key tenet of our day-to-day operations. We arm our employees with the tools and resources needed to ensure work is always conducted in a manner that meets or exceeds applicable laws and regulations and prioritizes their safety.

We conduct daily job safety analysis (JHA) and safety briefings at each site.

We empower all employees with the authority to correct and/or report potential safety hazards, including the ability to stop work when necessary.

We conduct safety audits/inspections by Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) professionals and site management to identify risks as well as best practices.

We expect every employee to be proactive and to pre-plan work in order to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards or unsafe conditions before work is started.

We encourage employees to always look for hazards in their work area and participate in proactive safety measures as part of an annual incentive program.

Our teams immediately report all injuries and near misses using incident reporting software that automatically informs management so that they can take corrective action.

We continuously monitor and benchmark our safety performance and regularly update internal safety standards to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

We employ site safety committees consisting of employees and management.

“The safety, health, and well-being of Vicinity Energy employees and customers are our top priority and paramount to our business. We are proud of our safety record and constantly strive to reach goal zero.”
