Our path to decarbonization

Our electrification strategy in Philadelphia is well underway, utilizing a unique combination of industrial-scale heat pumps, electric boilers, and thermal storage technologies.

Electrification progress

We are in the planning phase for an industrial-scale heat pump complex to be installed at our Philadelphia Grays Ferry facility and draw from the Schuylkill River.

The engineering for our first electric boiler has begun.

The electric boiler is expected to enter service in 2025-2026 and the first industrial-scale heat pump complex is expected to be installed around 2028.

Carbon-free eSteam™ will be delivered to Philadelphia buildings in the next few years.
