Our path to decarbonization

Our electrification strategy in Philadelphia is well underway, utilizing a unique combination of industrial-scale heat pumps, electric boilers, and thermal storage technologies.

Electrification progress

DEVELOPING

 We are in the planning phase for an industrial-scale heat pump complex to be installed at our Philadelphia Grays Ferry facility and draw from the Schuylkill River.

ENGINEERING

The engineering for our first electric boiler has begun.

IMPLEMENTING

 The electric boiler is expected to enter service in 2025-2026 and the first industrial-scale heat pump complex is expected to be installed around 2028.

DELIVERING

Carbon-free eSteam™ will be delivered to Philadelphia buildings in the next few years.
