Chief Technical Officer
John Gibson
As Chief Technical Officer (CTO), John is working to transform our business to meet the pace of our growth in several regions as well as deploying new electrification technologies beginning in Boston and then Philadelphia. As CTO, John will coordinate the many ongoing construction projects between the Operations and Technical teams and take on the expected near-term rapid acceleration of these activities.
With over 25 years of experience in utility management and operations, John most recently oversaw all operations in Vicinity Energy’s portfolio across the United States serving as Chief Operations Officer (COO). Prior to this, John served in various leadership roles for Veolia, including Executive Vice President (EVP) and COO of Veolia North America’s (VNA) Municipal and Commercial (M&C) business and VP of Veolia Energy’s South Region operations, where he oversaw, managed and supported large-scale energy projects in the region.
John joined Veolia’s energy business as a Marketing Engineer in 1994 and went on to serve in a variety of roles including Manager of Business Development, Director of Sales and Marketing and Vice President and Manager (in Baltimore and Atlanta).
Prior to this, John worked at Aspen Systems Corporation, Air Products and Chemicals, and the U.S. Navy. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in General Administration from the University of Maryland.
