Our community

Our employees take pride in getting involved in our communities. The Vicinity Energy team regularly hosts donation drives, environmental clean-up days, and partners with local organizations and schools to improve the communities we serve.

Sustainability efforts

Our Philadelphia, Grand Rapids, and Baltimore teams have held several food drives to benefit organizations like Philabundance, the Green Apple Pantry, and the Maryland Food Bank, contributing hundreds of pounds of food donations.

During the winter season, our team members do their part to keep those that are less fortunate warm.


Our Grand Rapids and Boston teams have collected dozens of winter coats to benefit organizations like Mel Trotter Ministries, One Warm Coat, and the YMCA.

As dedicated neighborhood partners, our team frequently supports local schools. Vicinity employees have participated in career days at Esperanza Charter Cyber School and G.W. Childs Elementary School in Philadelphia.


Our Baltimore team has donated over 100 backpacks to a local public school ahead of the school year.

Year round, our teams participate in local clean-up initiatives to preserve natural ecosystems and the improve the environment.


Across our locations, our teams have conducted trail and river cleanups, especially where our operations are located like the Oklahoma River, the Charles River and the Schuylkill River.

Across our locations, our teams have taken initiative to support sustainability efforts in the communities we serve.

Several of our teams conducted stormwater drain marking to prevent polluted water from entering our rivers. Teams have also planted pollinator gardens, sponsored community recycling stations, and even donated a water wagon to support local park operations.

To preserve the historic artifacts housed in the Walters Art Museum, our buildings must meet precise humidification requirements. The reliability of district energy and its ability to meet the needs of our exhibitions while reducing our carbon footprint made Vicinity an excellent choice.
